“ Her attentiveness to our needs along with her vibrant personality made us feel as though we had known her for a long time. She became a team with my husband and I.
She is well equipped in knowledge and resourcefulness. Monique spent time with us sharing information and answering questions. Throughout labor we worked on exercises, positioning the baby, and handling the labor pains. During difficult conversations and decisions, she was our advocate and information resource. Monique is an excellent doula because she is an excellent person. We are ever grateful to her and so recommend her to anyone seeking this service.”

“Amazing helping skills and stamina. You know when someone agrees to help you, but the whole time you can tell they're just ready for the task to end? Monique is the exact opposite. She anticipated my needs in every situation, so that I hardly had to ask for help. When I did need help, she was immediately ready to provide it.
Monique was my doula in 2016 for my first delivery and in 2018 for my second. I believe I owe my success in a natural, unmedicated labor and delivery to her help! (However, she believed in me so much that she would always say it was all me - that's how you know she's a good doula.) I will share a few highlights.
She interacted well with hospital staff. It was very important that we get along well with the OB and hospital staff because I happen to be a nurse at that hospital, and I value these professional's expertise. I kept in contact with my delivery nurse and a month later she told me, "I had a patient with a doula yesterday. I really hoped it was yours (Monique) because she was my favorite! She had just the right personality and was supportive of you." Monique's care made an impression on my nurse.
She worked well with my husband. During pregnancy, Monique provided in-home education regarding delivery, breastfeeding, and newborn care. She never gave less information because I'm a nurse and I "should know this", and she never made my reserved husband feel uncomfortable. She also had great tools to help my husband and me discuss our expectations for delivery. Through this we learned that he and I had some different plans! Monique helped us work together to create a plan that honored both our wishes and never made us feel judged for doing things a little differently than most couples.
I had a lot of contractions and discomfort my final two weeks of pregnancy. One night I was in tears due to exhaustion, pain, and frustration. I texted Monique and she came to my apartment with massage oils, calming music, and 25 electric candles. She stayed for 3 hours until my husband got home and never made me feel guilty for needing the extra help. She calmed my anxiety, helped me to rest, and got me refocused so that I was ready when labor came.
During labor she quietly sat through my contractions and observed my own rhythm for handling them. She remembered my birth plans and motivation words when I forgot them and read them to me from her phone (she took pictures beforehand because she is well-prepared). She did the hard work of providing counter-pressure on my back, cheered me on after every push when I was beyond exhausted, and celebrated the birth of my daughter (and the birth of a mother) with joy and so many affirmations of all my hard work.

‘‘
She served us on a personal level as a couple’s counselor, preparing us for the changes that were soon to arrive in our lives.
”“Going through our first pregnancy, we were so happy to have the opportunity to have Monique as our guide. She was so helpful with the birth details and made it as comfortable as possible. We cannot recommend her enough as she is such a kind and knowledgeable doula!
